AI Nudge

In this article

Introduction

The LookDeep Virtual Monitoring solution utilizes artificial intelligence to direct the focus of the virtual monitor to specific patients. AI Nudges are product features that direct attention to specific video blocks so the virtual monitor can assess the situation further.

Best Practices

  • Respond to every AI Nudges and assess the situation to determine the best next steps
  • Personalize and improve the AI Nudge for each patient by utilizing the Safety Zone feature
  • Enable accompanied audible "ping" to alert you to AI Nudges

How does it Work?

Activation

  • AI Nudging will turn video monitor blocks that need further assessment to have a highlighted yellow border
  • The AI Nudge sensitivity is set at the Health System level
  • 10-15 seconds of a highlighted colored border and flashing with accompanying an AI nudge

Acklowledgement

  • When the Safety Zone is set and crossed, an AI Nudge is activated, creating a pulsing yellow perimeter around the patient’s video window.
  • It will continue until the VMT acknowledges it by moving their cursor over that video block.
  • At that point, the AI Nudge will go away.

Notice that the AI Nudge goes away when the VMT hovers over the video block.

Reactivation

  • Once an AI Nudge is acknowledged, there is a 10-second cool-down period during which another nudge will not be triggered. This is done to avoid rapid nudge notifications within a very short period of time.

Audible Alert

  • An optional audible sound may accompany the AI nudge
  • Virtual Monitors will hear a "ping" when an AI nudge is activated
  • The audible alert can be enabled or disabled by the user
    • Navigate to Profile
    • Use toggle to enable or disable audible alert
  • Troubleshooting: to hear the audible alert, ensure the speaker volume is adequate and your headset is plugged in and working properly.

Important considerations

    • AI Nudging is not a replacement for virtual monitors' judgment and always requires further assessment
    • The nudges are not panic alerts, they examine the last-minute of activity in the room and require the action of the virtual monitor to determine the severity
    • The best way to help improve AI nudging is to monitor patients and log events on your interventions
