Central Monitoring - Flex Views
In this article
Introduction
Flex Views simplify the setup and ongoing updates to Views
- They are defined by Filter criteria
- The Blocks will automatically be created within the Flex View
- The Flex View will automatically update based on changes to monitoring sessions that meet the Filter criteria
- Blocks will automatically be added / removed based on the Filter criteria
- The user is always made aware and must acknowledge any changes
Creating a Flex View
Best Practice
- Flex Views are limited to a maximum of 35 patient monitors
- You can apply a filter to narrow the number
- Most often you will select Monitoring Status = Active and maybe further narrow results to a specific Unit.
- The number of “Matched” patients are shown to anticipate the size of your Flex View.
STEPS
| 1 Within Central Monitoring, in the top right corner, click Views > Manage Views
| 2 Then click New View
| 3 Give your new View a name and then toggle the Flex View option.
| 4 Select the Block Type (Patient Card, Patient Events or Live Video)
| 5 Add one or more Filters to narrow the results. Filter options include: Monitoring Status, Hospital, Unit and Attribute.
- If you include more than 1 Filter criteria, it's important to understand that they use the AND operator between them. For example, If you select:
- Monitoring Status = Active
- Hospital = Parkview General - Boston
- Attribute = Fall Risk
- Then your result set will include: Actively monitored patients from Parkview General - Boston who have a fall risk.
Filter Logic
- OR - is used between the same filter type.
- For example, if you select more than one Unit ->
- Unit: ParkView - 3 East
- Unit: ParkView - 2 West
- Results: you will see patients from both 3 East and 2 West
- AND - is used between different filter types.
- For example, if you select various filter options ->
- Monitoring Status = Active
- Hospital = Parkview General - Boston
- Attribute = Fall Risk
- Results: your result set will include: Actively monitored patients from Parkview General - Boston who have a fall risk.
Using a Flex View
Within Central Monitoring, the Flex View will automatically update based on changes to monitoring sessions that meet the Filter criteria
The user is always made aware and must acknowledge all changes
Example
- Your Flex View is defined as follows:
- Blocks: Live Videos
- Filter criteria: Status = Active.
- Therefore your Central Monitoring Flex View consists of Live Video Blocks of all patients with an Active Monitoring session.
If a monitoring session is stopped, that patient’s Live Video block will automatically be removed from the Flex View and an alert will be provided to the VMT.
Flex View - Size Limit
Flex Views are based on filter criteria. If your filter range is very broad, it’s possible to define a Flex View with a very large number of blocks. This can be both impractical and have performance consequences.
- To prevent this, we’ve introduced an initial setup limit of a maximum of 35 blocks.
- If during operation, the filter criterias grow in excess of 35 blocks, these will be permitted.
